MYTH #6:

A birth mother will have serious emotional problems if she places her child.

Your grief over the loss of your child may be painful. However, the ability to grieve is a sign of good mental health. Never mistake grief for craziness, instability, or immaturity. Facing your loss is brave, mature, and will lead to emotional growth and strength. We're here to help you as long as you need us. There may be more cause to be concerened about the mental health of those who choose to parent too soon. Depression, stress, relationship problems, educational difficulties, financial harship, and lost opportunities may cause many parents to feel trapped and lead to desparate measures of behavior.
