MYTH
#7:
No
one else can love a child as much as the birth
mother.
Adoptive
parents can love your child as fully and
unselfishly as biological parents. Good parenting
is a matter of unconditional love and acceptance,
consistency, nurturing, and caring in a way that
puts the needs of the child first. Ask any adoptive
parent about their experience and you will be
convinced that your child will be treasured. In
addition, they are able to give your child many
gifts a young parent may not be able to
provide:
- Shared
responsibility between two parents
- Financial
security
- Maturity
and wisdom that comes with age and life
experiences
- Spiritual
direction
- Plenty
of time to spend with their children. Most
adoptive couples are finished with their
education and are established and secure in
their careers
You may be excited one day, confused and fearful
the next. You may even wonder if you will ever be
happy again. All these emotions will come together
appropriately in time. However, an unplanned
pregnancy is not the end of the world for you.
Thousands of young people have come through their
pregnancies wiser, more mature, more responsible,
and more compassionate. Although they never would
have chosen this experience, they have faced it
courageously and grown tremendously. They have gone
on to lead happy, meaningful lives. You will too!
We're here to help you!
