If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read our Birth Parent Letter and family profile.

Dear Birth parents,

Hi, we’re John, Nicole and John Paul.

A warm hello and greeting to you!

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and tell you about our family. We are excited that you are taking some time to look through our adoption profile. We hope that you can see that we are prepared to give your child a great life with our endless love and support.

We have been praying for you and the baby and we look forward to the day when our paths cross. We can just imagine how difficult this decision must be for you. We want to express our utmost respect to you for the most loving choice to make an adoption plan for your child. We will provide our love, an encouraging home, a fulfilled life and a firm foundation in Christ to our children. We are open to sharing letter and photo updates with you, so you can see how your baby is growing. We have already experienced adoption when we welcomed our first son; it is a humbling experience and your gracious act of love is beyond words!

After we learned we were unable to get pregnant – the decision to grow our family via adoption was an easy one for us because we talked about the possibility of adoption even before we were married. We have a strong faith and know in our hearts that it was all in HIS plan for our family to be formed by adoption.

Our first Adoption Journey

Our son, John Paul, was born in Guatemala and is a delightful 4 year old boy. He cannot wait to have a sibling. We know he will be an awesome big brother; he is gentle,
sensitive and caring. He is always concerned if a little one gets hurt at the playground and will go to console them, give them a hug and help them. Many times while playing or singing, he will say “I am going to teach my baby brother or sister this!” He just can’t wait to be a big brother and has even been practicing holding a baby. John Paul is in kindergarten this year and he is absolutely thrilled about school. We think this is a perfect time to welcome our second child.

Talking about Adoption

We have shared our son’s adoption story with him since we brought him home at 6 months old. We believe it is especially important for him to know as much as he can
about his adoption story. Although he is still young, we want to provide open communication for him to ask questions and have a conversation about how God
brought him into our family. We plan to do the same with the next child God brings into our family. We want our children to view adoption as a positive loving act.

Family Fun

As a family, we do lots of fun things together. We visit parks, playgrounds, children’s museums, and aquariums to name a few. John Paul really enjoys seeing all of the animals. We like to travel internationally. We have been to Europe including Greece with our Church and England, Ireland, Scotland, France and Spain on one of John’s business trips. When John has business trips to Washington D.C., we like to visit with our friends and visit the Smithsonian. Our most recent family vacation was a trip to Walt Disney World. It was so much fun eating breakfast with the characters and getting their autographs. John Paul is still talking about it and wants to bring his sister or brother there soon! We have plans to go back to Disney in the future as a family of four. We also visit with our families several times a year to spend time with grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Our family also enjoys various outdoor activities that include sports and things around our home, like gardening. We play baseball and soccer with John Paul in the yard as well as bike riding through our neighborhood. He also enjoys playing on the swing set in our yard. One of our favorite places to visit is the beach and we don’t live far from the ocean so we go at every opportunity we can. Every fall, we enjoy the leaves changing color, going apple picking and getting pumpkins that we carve and roasting the pumpkin seeds. During the winter, John Paul loves to play in the snow and build snowmen. It’s so much fun! We also attend an annual adoption picnic at an amusement park in the summer and a holiday party in December. All of the children have such fun together! It is nice to spend time with other families formed by adoption. This is a tradition that we will continue as a family.

About John Paul

John Paul enjoys many outdoor activities: swimming year-round, baseball (his favorite sport), soccer and tennis. He is a member of our Church’s young people’s choir and sings at Mass. He likes to finger paint, make crafts and play board games, “Trouble” and “Candyland” are his favorites. Additionally, he enjoys computer games like Curious George and playing with his friends. He likes to be read to especially at bedtime and also enjoys telling us a story using the book illustrations. During the summer, he attends a town-wide camp where he is able to play with other children and enjoys craft time, face painting, music, singing, meeting the police and firemen, and playing in the water at the splash pad.

God’s Plan

John and I met at a Bible Study at Nicole’s Church in 1999. Our relationship began shortly after a trip to the Holy Land in 2000. We booked the trip at the same time with the same travel group and neither of us knew it until we announced it at Bible Study. We were both surprised! Our courtship was filled with many special activities and events, including Church activities, sharing our faith, leading a youth group at our Church and traveling. John proposed to me on Christmas Eve, 2003 after Midnight Mass. We were married 6 months later in June and three years later; we welcomed our son and celebrated his baptism in our Church.

Faith

As you can probably tell… our Catholic faith is very important to us. We attend Church weekly and are active in our parish. God and family are important and we try to nurture both.

Careers & Parenting

John is an Engineering Manager and builds submarines for the US Navy. Nicole was a CPA and worked for insurance companies before we adopted our son. She is now happy to be a stay-at-home mom. We both take our parenting roles seriously and believe it is so important for Nicole to be home with our children. John is a “hands on” father and a fantastic provider. Together, we made plans to provide our family with financial security. It has been such a blessing to be able to be a stay-at-home mom. We look ahead to raising our second child with the same love, care and attention.

Family and Friends

John has 4 siblings: 1 older brother and 3 sisters. Nicole is an only child. John’s siblings live in Pennsylvania, Connecticut and California. Nicole’s family lives in Michigan and Oregon as well as Germany. Nicole’s parents are retired and her mom was a medical assistant and her dad a truck driver. John’s Dad was in Sales and his mom was a stay at home mom with John. John’s family lived in several states while he was growing up. We are surrounded by a loving, encouraging group of family and friends who are excited that we are adopting again! Nicole loves to cook and bake, especially apple pie and Christmas cookies, and is often online looking for a special dinner or dessert recipe. We enjoy entertaining family and friends at our home. John Paul can be found helping Mom bake cookies or helping making breakfast (pancakes or french toast are favorites).

Where we call home

We live in a neighborhood that allows us to walk, ride bikes and chat with our neighbors while the kids play together outside. Our home is set back in a wooded setting with flower gardens surrounding our home. We have a 4-bedroom home with an open floor plan. Our home is spacious, yet has a cozy feel as you enter. We also have a finished basement with a pool table and TV area. Our town has a parks and recreation department that offers many activities that we utilize (baseball, soccer, tennis, golf) and summer concerts on the green.

Education is very important to us.

We are both college graduates and worked while in college to help pay for our educations. Nicole graduated and became a Certified Public Account and John obtained a degree in Nuclear Engineering. Our educations have allowed us to live a comfortable lifestyle. Our goal will be to send our children to college or a trade school to help them reach their future goals. No matter what they decide to do – we will be there to cheer them on!

Open Adoption

We can’t wait to meet you and the child you will place in our hearts and home. We would love to be able to tell our child firsthand about the loving person you are. If you decide to be updated in the future, we would like to send you photos and letters so you can see how your child is flourishing in our family.

How to reach us

We welcome any opportunity to talk with you and answer any other questions you may have. If you would like to speak with us, or have questions about us or adoption, a caring, knowledgeable member of “The Adoption Alliance” can assist you. You can reach them toll free by calling 1-800-626-4324.

With gratitude and prayers,

Nicole and John
