If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.Dear Birth Family,

Hello….we are Kelly and Isabella! I want to first say thank you for opening your heart and mind to learn about us. We live in Connecticut very close to our extended family and many close friends.  We focus our lives on love and respect for each other and those around us, learning and experiencing new things and simply enjoying everything that life has to offer.

Children have always been important to me and I always wanted a big family.  I was in a relationship and conceived Isabella in my early 30’s.  Although we are no longer together and I am a single mom, Isabella has very important male influences in her life from her two very involved uncles and a grandfather who are strong male role models.

I’ve been blessed to have one daughter, but would love to be able to welcome another child into our family. I hope this book gives you a glimpse into our life and helps you decide whether we’re the right family for the baby you’re bringing into the world.

Let me tell you about me

I am very outgoing and like to be around people.  I am usually laughing or making someone else laugh. I am pretty laid back and don’t like to take life too seriously. I believe everything happens for a reason and try to look at things in a positive way.

My family is extremely important to me and I am very close to them.  I have one brother and one sister.  My sister Karen is married with two boys, Jordan and Jeremy.  My brother Gerald is now living in the home we grew up in.  My parents have been married for almost 45 years and are still great friends and very much in love.  I spend as much time as I can with my family and really treasure every moment.  My daughter spends a lot of time with my nephews as well.  Even today, we spend most Monday nights as a group at mom and dad’s for dinner.  They are not only my family but also my best friends.

My parents have shown me what is important in life:  family, friends and love. They have always encouraged me with unconditional support and taught me to be open minded, respectful and non-judgmental.  I will teach my children these same values in life.

A little about Isabella

Isabella is two and a half and extremely bright, articulate, curious, silly, loving, sensitive, caring and most of all; she is the funniest kid I’ve ever met.  She is a beautiful soul and has made my life wonderful, exciting and meaningful.

When she enters a room she is usually the center of attention within minutes.  Her magnetic personality grabs strangers’ attention.  She loves to dress up in her princess dresses and play make believe, sing, dance and play her instruments around the house or run around with her cousins.  She loves to make people laugh by being silly.

Isabella is extremely intelligent and is eager to learn something new every day.  She began talking at an early age and is very articulate.  Reading books is her favorite thing to do and each and every night, we read many.  We spend a lot of time at places like the museums, the aquarium, the library and the zoo but her favorite place is the planetarium.  I love watching her face as she experiences all of it.

Isabella has been in many different mommy and me classes and is currently enrolled in a music class and a dance class.

Isabella is an only child right now but she spends a lot of time with her friends from “school” and on play dates with other children we know.  Knowing what it is like to have a brother and a sister and having them as best friends; I would love to have Isabella experience that closeness.  My best gift to her would be a sibling to share her journey though life.

I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to places throughout the United States as well as Europe.  This is something that I will continue to enjoy with my children.  I believe learning through experience is extremely important to building knowledge, acceptance and understanding of others.  I love to travel and see different cultures, sites and history.  Since Isabella was born; however, my travel has focused mostly on Disney World and Sesame Place.  Those were two of my favorite trips so far!

We live in a safe neighborhood within a community that is known for its educational programs.  We have three bedrooms in our home along with a playroom.  Our backyard area is large off the back deck with a lot of space to run around in and a playscape to climb and swing on.

We live near many parks and play areas.  We spend a lot of time engaging in activities that are not only fun but stimulating in all kinds of ways.

Whether it’s dancing around the house to music, going for a walk or bike ride in our neighborhood, playing at the beach in the summer or in the snow in the winter, we are usually active.  I love watching her learn and seeing her smile as she experiences a new adventure.

I have been able to work hard and secure a stable job with a large financial company.  It has given me the ability to own my own home, provide for my daughter and plan for our future.   I love my job because it is not only exciting professionally but because I work for a company that is very family oriented which allows me the flexibility to ensure that my family remains a priority to me.

The child care I will provide will consist partially of a structured learning day care environment as well as home care with grammy and grampy.  The day care Isabella is in currently is through a prestigious college led by wonderful teachers who have become very dear to my family.

I grew up in a Catholic family with parents who have a strong belief in their faith. They taught us the values and morals that have made me who I am today.  They showed us that kindness, forgiveness, open mindedness and unconditional love are what is important in life.

Through my young adult years I learned about and experienced several different types of religions.  I feel that I am more spiritual than religious but I do believe that faith and religion provide the foundation for strong morals and values.

Education has always been important to me. I graduated with a Family Relations degree and began my career as a Social Worker counseling abused and delinquent children and teenagers.  I found this type of work very fulfilling and knew I was good at it.  I was always fair, consistent and always treated the children with respect and open arms.

My education and work experience allowed me to work with many programs helping children learn to build healthy and emotionally stable lives.  It is very important to me to be able to provide my children with the best education possible so they can have the opportunities to fulfill their goals and dreams.

What Being a Parent Means to Me:

I have always wanted children ever since I can remember.  My daughter has brought so much joy to my life and I spend every moment possible with her.  I get laughs from my co-workers as I leave work because I literally run to my car to drive home to see her.  At times it is challenging as a single mother; to be all things all the time – mother, father, disciplinarian, friend, and partner.  Through it all every moment has been so rewarding to me and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  The traditional family with a mother and a father may be ideal for some families; however, I feel that I can provide the love, stability and support, both emotionally and financially, to my children.

My approach to discipline is most importantly to have patience and talk calmly about what was wrong and a better way to do things.  I treat Isabella like an individual and always try to give her choices so she feels she has some ownership in the decisions.  She is always aware of possible consequences that go along with some choices, which are primarily removal of privileges or time outs.  She feels my love all the time even when limits need to be set.  We decide our rules together and this builds her confidence and independence.  I am here to guide her and teach her the foundations but to let her experience and choose a path that is right for her.

I believe that I have so much love to give to another child.  I am emotionally and financially stable, independent, educated and experienced in life.  I can provide a safe, stable and secure home filled with love, respect and joy.

I will always be open and honest with this child regarding adoption, the sacrifice you have made and any details you wish to provide about yourself.  This child will always know how special you are and the courage you showed in making this decision.  Should you wish to receive pictures and letters, I would be honored to provide those for you through the Adoption Alliance.  I am so grateful to you for considering our family.

Thank you.
